Ms. Pac-Man Video Arcade
Twenty years ago, there were arcades in every neighborhood, with every kid clamoring to get in with a pocket full of coins to play the latest game. With the introduction of home game consoles, the popularity of arcades
waned a bit. Even though most of those arcade games are still available at an even more convenient place, on the Internet, isn’t it every big boy’s dream to have an original Pac-Man arcade game in the living room?
It used to be that kids would rush to the arcade right after school and it would be the local hang out where all the kids would come together. There was something very unique about visiting an arcade. They had a unique smell to them, a certain social aspect and usually offered a large variety of games, from Pac-Man to Area 51.
Pac-Man and Other Arcade Games of the Past
Back in the day, the most widely popular arcade game was Pac Man. It was easy to learn, and it could be played by people of all ages, even parents were occasionally seen trying to navigate through the maze. The game represents the essence of gaming. To become successful you need fast reactions, good spatial memory and excellent visual attention span. This is probably why Pac-Man doesn’t
seem that dated when playing it today. In my opinion, gaming hasn’t improved since Pac-Man. Call it stupid nostalgia if you wish, but that is my strong belief.
Other hugely successful games also found on eBay are Asteroids, Centipede, Donkey Kong and Street Fighter among many other classics. When reminiscing, it’s easy to see how these classics have contributed to the vast growth of video gaming.
Many of these old games are considered antique today and have gone down in history with pinball games. You were once able to find one in every 7-11 or movie theater, but today arcade games are a bit harder to track down. Many fans of these games have gone out and found these titles on the Internet to get that fix of the game they love so much, but just as internet poker can’t substitute real
casino gambling, a Pac-Man flash game will never be as good as the arcade version.
