I guess you either love or hate bikes (so if you do go away now), and this little beaut is quite simply a 1/18th scale model of the bike that Valentino Rossi - probably the best motorcycle rider of a all time - rode last year. Ironically this wasn't a great bike and he failed to win the Moto GP championship as Casey Stoner reigned supreme on his Ducati. But this year Vale has won it again, and his bike's regular paintjob is almost identical to this one, so it looks nice and up-to-date to all but Moto GP afficionados and annoying bikegeeks (Rossi always uses the number 46).

It's a cool little kit, simple to snap/screw together, the decals are all pre-applied, and as you can see looks great, easily the match of 1/18th ready built models out there. It only takes 10 minutes or so to build and comes with its own teeny screwdriver. The only complaint I'd have is that the screws could have had caps to cover their huge 2.5mm 1/1th scale heads up (only visible on the axle hubs). It comes with its own clip-on axle stand for display purposes (mine sits nicely on my monitor's base).

The rear suspension is sprung and the front wheel turns a little, so zooming around my desk is quite possible (donuts and wheelies optional). I can't say that I'm planning to start a collection of these but as a tactile piece of Rossi memorabilia this is great.

Best Bits

- Easy to make
- Looks great
- It's unlikely that you'll break your hands, legs, arms, neck or arse riding it
Worst Bits

- It won't impress the girls
