Any game with 'Star Wars' in the title will sell, that much is obvious, but the Rogue Squadron games have always been a step above the rest, people bought N64's just to play the original, and people did the same with Gamecube's to play this, but is it worthy of their high expectations?
Rogue Leader's presentation is spot on, the opening sequence will make fans of the series drool, and the look, sound and feel of it is 110% Star Wars - even the craft selection screen has you running around a hangar to find your ship of choice, Rogue Leader is painstakingly authentic.
The game plays pretty well, the craft are slightly twitchy at first, but once you get used to the controls you'll be blasting Imperial's out of the sky before you can say 'Yoda'. There are a host of missions in the game, and their all instantly recognisable from the films - all your favourite scenes return in RL, including the Death Star trench attack and the Hoth Battle, and their all replicated so well you'll feel like Skywalker himself.
Now, a problem a lot of people had with the original Rogue Squadron was the difficulty setting, a lot of people got so frustrated with it that they gave up, and although Rogue Leader is slightly easier, many people will find it so hard they'll never finish this game, Lucasarts really need to sort that out.
Rogue Leader looks great, the amount of things happening on screen is spectacular, and although on some missions its hard to see what your shooting at, the graphics are awesome throughout.
With a plentiful supply of secrets, and the challenge of getting Gold or Platinum medals on every mission, Rogue Leader will take you months to complete, but its difficulty will put some people off and at times you cant help thinking that your just playing a tarted-up N64 game.
