Out of the mists of Normandy comes D-Day - the newest game from the makers of Desert Rats vs. Afrika Korps. This real-time strategy game lets you experience the entirety of Operation Overlord, from sending in the paratroopers behind enemy lines to secure artillery bunkers, to marking drop targets using French resistance members, to the obvious D-Day landings of Omaha beach.

The game plays quite similarly to Blitzkrieg, which, although not original, guarantees a stable and enjoyable game, and that it certainly is. Using the different varieties of troops at your disposal is vital, as is taking things very slowly and carefully. The difficulty curve doesn’t seem to be too much of a problem, which can hinder some games, such as the aforementioned Blitzkrieg. Its only problems are that the graphics are looking a little old and tired now, especially for a PC game, and that your men often play up and go completely the wrong way at the most inopportune of moments, meaning you have to restart the whole mission. Also, with only 12 missions, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of meat in the game. Hopefully that will be filled with the online option, which we have yet to test.
