Buzz Junior Jungle Party is a different breed of Buzz game. Not only is it aimed at the younger audience but for the first time it’s not about answering questions. Instead it’s all about mini games.

Buzz JJP has a familiar yet different feel, you have the same options at the beginning of the game; you choose single or multiplayer, choose the game type and then enter your name and monkey’s outfit (yes you play as monkeys in this Buzz). The first round you play might trick people into thinking this is a simple kids’ game because it’s a counting game, all you do is press the button of the card with most fruit on. But you keep playing the standard mode and you’ll find there are some really fun games here. A game where you and the other players are on rafts going down a river where you have to throw coconuts at each other using the coloured buttons e.g. press blue to throw at the blue player, but hitting crocodiles will knock you off your raft…

The standard set of games is varied but some of them drag on a little too long. But if you select ‘custom game’ from the menu you’ll find a whole horde of other games, most of which are better than the standard set. There are too many to mention them all so I’ll only describe a few. Pumping up a water rocket by pressing the coloured buttons in a random order that appear on your player’s pump, when the time is up your monkeys will grab onto the rockets and shoot into the air with the players who pumped the least falling to earth. Another game has the monkeys sliding down a branch in a line but only the monkey at the front can collect the fruit and gain points, but if a branch comes along and you hit it you’ll loose all of your points so you have to jump to the back of the queue when you feel the branch coming along. Like I said there are so many more and they’re all fun, with several variations of others. It’s a great game for all ages and for once you can get the younger members of the family involved in the greatness that is Buzz.

Buzz JJP looks really nice, the monkeys and other characters have a real charm to them and are nicely detailed and animated. I find the woman narrator a bit annoying but it is for kids and I’m sure they’ll laugh at the silly comments she makes.

Buzz Junior Jungle Party is a nice surprise for me. I’ve always been a fan of mini games and with a few mates playing this in between quizzes is a good laugh. Younger people will love this and it’ll make a great family Christmas game.
