Ico's storyline isn't a totally original concept, boy finds girl, boy saves girl, boy beats up bad guys - but Ico's graphics, gameplay, atmosphere and feeling are far from ordinary.

Your character, Ico, was living a happy life until he grew horns, a real downer I'd imagine, then people hated him and put him inside a statue within a dungeon full of creepy things, it really wasn't Ico's day.

Anyway, the game starts with you escaping from the statue you were trapped inside and blundering around until you find a little girl called Yorda, she's the one you have to save, protect from bad guys and generally do everything for, because you're the hero and that's what you do. You lead her around by the hand, fighting off scary black demons and helping her out whenever she's in trouble, in Ico you really care what happens to the characters, which is rarity in games.

The game's graphics are simply stunning, the lighting effects, shadows, sun glare and textures are all beautiful, Ico is a real feast for the eyes and you'll regularly find yourself forgetting your playing a game and staring at the scenery, it really is that good. The characters looks amazing and the movement is perfect, the way Ico and Yorda climb, run, jump and occasionally stumble is all so well captured and so easy to control that you wont want to put the pad down.

If you play games for the experience then Ico will be for you, its not the most action packed game you'll ever play, and the concept wont be to everyone's liking, but you cant fail to be impressed by it, and it'll bring you hours of fun. Ico is an unforgettable game, there's nothing quite like it and it's a worthy addition to anyone's collection.
