Spiderman - he's the coolest superhero ever and he's finally got a game that does him justice, releasing it alongside the film only ensured that it'd top the charts, and it almost deserves its success.

Spiderman looks the part, its presentation is good and elements of the film are everywhere, the storyline is as close to the film as it possibly could've been, and there's some extra characters and scenes to make the game longer and more interesting. The movement and combat is also good, there's a host of moves at your disposal aswell as the regular punching, kicking and web slinging. Spidey is easy enough to control, but the swinging camera can sometimes leave you looking at a wall, which is very frustrating.

The scenes in the game will all look very familiar to spidey fans, and the developer even managed to get Toby Maguire to do the voice for the character, which adds a welcome touch of authenticity. The voiced cut-scenes are all very corny and comical, but they fit into the game well enough to keep the superhero spirit going and they don't intrude too much.

The game follows Spidey from nerdy kid to superhero, and the game illustrates this well. For example, in the first few levels your outfit looks very amateurish, but as you work your way through the game it gets cooler and cooler until you really look the part. The graphics in general are good, and on some of the later levels there are some vast areas to explore and some nice effects - its adequate, nothing more, nothing less.

9 times out of 10 games of films are mediocre, but Treyarch did a good job of making Spiderman an exception, its no classic, but it plays well, its good fun, and it still manages to stay faithful to the film and the comics.
