A proper Grand Theft Auto experience is finally, finally coming to Switch

Following a couple of leaks earlier this week, Rockstar moved to confirm their plans for a 20th anniversary trilogy edition of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, entitled 'The Definitive Edition', in case you were in any doubt about that.

It'll be available on every platform under the sun (PS5/4, Xbox Series X/S/One, iOS/Android, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC) but perhaps the only real surprise was the inclusion of the Switch in that list. Rockstar last treated Nintendo fans to a GTA game a decade ago with Chinatown Wars on the DS, so this has felt like a long time coming.

They're promising "across-the-board upgrades" without muddying the feel of the originals, so it'll be interesting to see how far they push in search of modernising three games that really don't feel that out of date now. In preparation for this release, Rockstar have begun to remove those originals from digital retailers, so if you're desperate for a classic GTA fix and haven't already got several versions of each of them, get moving.
