Let's get right into it, shall we?
Halo Infinite has been delayed until 2021.
[In the distance, the sound of a thousand Series X pre-orders being cancelled]
Studio Head Chris Lee shared an update on their development blog reminiscent of the many others we've seen since the pandemic struck, making no reference to the (admittedly hysterical) negative reception of the gameplay demo last month.
Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision.
While this is almost certainly a sensible move and a good thing for the game overall, it makes for rough reading if you're betting on the Series X winning the opening round of the next-gen battle. With neither Microsoft or Sony knocking our socks off with their showcases recently, it's going to take something pretty special now to see us in the socially-distanced queues for a console on launch day.
